President Volodymyr Zelenskyy chaired a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Staff focused on accelerating the production of high-speed interceptor drones designed to counter jet-powered Shahed drones.

According to Zelenskyy, Ukrainian manufacturers have already developed prototypes of the new weapons. They are now being refined to achieve the required level of effectiveness and move into mass production within the established timeframe.

The meeting also addressed involving private companies in the production, supply and configuration of certain air defence systems. Zelenskyy said Ukraine aims to manufacture sufficient numbers of high-speed interceptors and inexpensive missiles as Russia expands production of new aerial weapons.

The president added that Ukrainian intelligence is aware of Russia’s plans and that the necessary resources are already being allocated to counter the threat.

“We will also act asymmetrically. The relevant operations have been approved,” Zelenskyy said.
