Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a phone call with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. They discussed Russian strikes on Ukraine, strengthening the country’s air defenses and financing its defense needs.

Zelensky also briefed the NATO chief on preparations for upcoming meetings with representatives of the US president. According to him, both Kyiv and NATO’s leadership are seeking progress in the diplomatic process.

“I am grateful that our partners recognize our need to cover the defense funding gap. We are working on this. Mark told me about his efforts to secure contributions to the PURL program and the Patriot missiles Ukraine needs,” Zelensky said.
