Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has accused Germany of pursuing a course toward direct conflict with Moscow. His remarks came after Berlin blamed Russia for a drone-related incident at Leipzig Airport.
Speaking to Russian state media, Lavrov described Germany’s recent measures as signs of “a real war.” He pointed to the expulsion of Russian diplomats from the consulate in Bonn and the closure of the Russian House in Berlin.
Lavrov also invoked the period preceding World War II, claiming that Germany’s actions resembled steps taken before the conflict. He alleged that Berlin “wants war again.”
According to Lavrov, the Russian leadership will assess the German government’s statements and decisions before determining its response.
