Social media users have drawn attention to the food served to U.S. President Donald Trump’s representatives, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, during their train journey from the Polish city of Rzeszów to Kyiv.
According to the Ukraine Context Telegram channel, the U.S. delegation was offered dishes from the menu of Selam, a Crimean Tatar restaurant. The exact selection of dishes was not disclosed.
Symbolically, while traveling to negotiations aimed at ending Russia’s war against Ukraine, the U.S. envoys were served the cuisine of the Crimean Tatars—an Indigenous people of Ukraine whose homeland, Crimea, remains under Russian occupation.
A bottle of Yafe Nagar dry white wine produced by Beykush Winery in Ukraine’s Mykolaiv region was also spotted on the table.
After arriving in the Ukrainian capital, Witkoff thanked Ukraine for the reception and described its hospitality as “unmatched.”
