Ukraine needs to strengthen its air defense despite the absence of air attacks on Kyiv today, President Volodymyr Zelensky said. He stressed that the country’s security cannot depend on the decisions of the person who started the war and continues to terrorize Ukrainians.
According to Zelensky, the stronger position of Ukraine’s Defense Forces on the battlefield gives the country greater confidence ahead of possible talks involving Kyiv, Washington and Moscow. He supported holding trilateral meetings but noted that their format would also depend on Russia’s willingness to participate.
The president identified protection against ballistic missiles as the most vulnerable component of Ukraine’s air defense. Zelensky plans to discuss strengthening these capabilities during upcoming meetings in Norway and Canada.
He also emphasized the need to develop a Ukrainian anti-ballistic missile system. Meanwhile, the United States is expected to increase production of interceptor missiles for Patriot systems next year, and Ukraine hopes to receive some of them to protect the country.
