Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and First Lady Olena Zelenska have arrived in Norway. During the visit, the Ukrainian leader met with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
Strengthening Ukraine’s air defenses was one of the main topics of the talks. The two leaders discussed Ukraine’s need for interceptor missiles, continued Norwegian support, and the country’s preparations for the coming winter.
Zelenskyy and Støre also paid particular attention to the FREYJA anti-ballistic program. The president said they would also meet with companies involved in developing the system.
“Jonas and I discussed strengthening Ukraine’s air defenses, our need for interceptor missiles, further work on the FREYJA anti-ballistic program, and Ukraine’s preparations for the winter,” Zelenskyy said.
The Ukrainian president described the meeting with the Norwegian prime minister as productive and thanked him for his unwavering support of the Ukrainian people.
During the talks, Zelenskyy also expressed his condolences following the death of King Harald V of Norway. According to the president, Ukraine deeply appreciates the support provided by the royal family and the Norwegian people.
Volodymyr and Olena Zelenskyy will attend the farewell ceremony for the monarch. The president stressed that he would express Ukraine’s gratitude to Norway for its support on behalf of the Ukrainian people.
“Ukraine greatly appreciates all the support from the royal family and the entire Norwegian people,” the president said.
King Harald V consistently demonstrated solidarity with Ukraine following the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. In his addresses, he spoke about the war and the suffering of the Ukrainian people, while the royal family supported Ukrainians who were forced to seek refuge in Norway. The monarch also emphasized the importance of peace, freedom, and the protection of democratic values. Ukraine values his personal support and contribution to strengthening the friendly relations between the two countries.
