US President Donald Trump said he had a “great conversation” with Vladimir Putin and believes the Russian leader wants to reach an agreement to end the war in Ukraine.
According to Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s willingness to negotiate would also be a positive step.
“If Zelenskyy wants to make a deal, that would be very good,” Trump said.
He described the difficult personal relationship between the Ukrainian and Russian presidents as one of the obstacles to reaching an agreement, saying that they “hate each other.”
Trump also did not rule out holding a separate meeting with Putin.
“It could happen. We had a good conversation. It could happen,” the US president said.
