Over the past week, Russian forces have launched around 2,100 drones, nearly 1,700 guided aerial bombs and 78 missiles of various types at Ukraine. A significant proportion of the drones were jet-powered Shaheds, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
Overnight and on Sunday morning, energy facilities, railway infrastructure, businesses and residential buildings came under attack. Odesa was targeted with missiles and drones, while recovery efforts continue in several western regions.
In particular, near the Ukrainian-Polish border in the Volyn region, a Russian drone set a train locomotive on fire and damaged a gas station.
“Every day, Ukrainian men and women fight and sacrifice their lives precisely to prevent these attacks from spreading further into Europe and to stop the aggression from expanding,” Zelenskyy stressed.
The president added that Russian terrorism poses a common threat to many countries, but it can and must be stopped in Ukraine.
