American actress and humanitarian Angelina Jolie was due to visit Odesa, but the planned trip did not take place. A Russian attack on the city the previous day may have been the reason, according to “UNN” .
The outlet suggests the cancellation may have been linked to the attack, but its report includes no official confirmation of the reason from Jolie or her team.
Jolie has spent years supporting refugees and internally displaced people, defending children’s rights and drawing attention to the plight of civilians in war zones. Her previous visits to Ukraine focused on meeting people affected by Russian aggression and those helping them.
Jolie first visited Ukraine following the start of the full-scale invasion on April 30, 2022. In the Lviv region, she met with children, displaced people and volunteers.
In November 2025, the actress visited Mykolaiv and Kherson. She toured medical and educational facilities that had been moved underground because of the threat of Russian strikes and saw roads protected by anti-drone netting.
Jolie worked with the UN Refugee Agency for more than twenty years. In December 2022, she stepped down as its special envoy to focus on a broader range of humanitarian issues and work directly with local organizations.
