Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a bilateral meeting with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk on the sidelines of the Carpathian Eight (C8) summit. The two leaders focused on Ukrainian-Polish cooperation, support for Ukraine and the further development of the new regional format.
According to Zelensky, one of the key issues discussed was the need to maintain unity between the two countries and work together to bring the war to an end.
“Ukraine and Poland are strong neighbors, friends and partners, and we have one common enemy. Today, we primarily discussed how important it is to preserve our unity and work together to stop this war,” the president said.
Zelensky also thanked Poland for a new aid package for Ukraine. He described the decision as an important step of support and stressed that Kyiv appreciates it.
The further development of the Carpathian Initiative was another topic of the meeting. Zelensky and Tusk discussed the opportunities the format could create for countries across the Carpathian macro-region.
The Ukrainian president stressed that Kyiv is ready to share its experience with Warsaw and is open to further mutually beneficial cooperation.
“This is exactly how relations between our countries should continue to be built,” Zelensky concluded.
