Russian forces struck ten regions of Ukraine on the evening of September 20 and overnight into September 21, President Volodymyr Zelensky said, highlighting the consequences of the attack on Zaporizhzhia.
According to Zelensky, the city came under a deliberate Russian attack. Nine-story residential buildings, a university building, a shopping center and a boiler facility were damaged. Five people are known to have been injured, while some residents were evacuated.
In Lozova, Kharkiv region, a woman was killed in a drone strike and three other people were injured.
Zelensky said Russia continues to escalate the war and, according to him, is sending signals that it is prepared to expand it further. The Ukrainian president called for continued pressure on Moscow, including through sanctions and Ukraine’s long-range strikes.
At the same time, he stressed the need for diplomatic efforts. Zelensky said Ukraine would raise the issue of joint efforts to achieve peace during the UN General Assembly.
