The NATO Military Committee has arrived in Kyiv for an official visit for the first time in eight years. Military representatives from all 32 NATO member states traveled to the Ukrainian capital alongside the committee’s chair, Giuseppe Cavo Dragone.
According to Cavo Dragone, the visit is intended to demonstrate the continued strengthening of ties between Ukraine and NATO amid Russia’s ongoing aggression.
“We are here in full force and with a clear message: the bond between NATO and Ukraine is growing stronger,” he said.
The NATO representatives are expected to receive an up-to-date assessment of the battlefield situation directly from Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatyi and his staff and discuss further assistance to Ukraine.
“Joining me are the military representatives of all 32 Allied nations, here to hear directly from General Drapatyi and his staff the latest assessment of the battlefield situation and to understand what more we can do to support Ukraine,” Cavo Dragone said.
The NATO Military Committee chair also said that acts of sabotage, cyberattacks and airspace violations would not undermine the Allies’ resolve.
“To those who believe that acts of sabotage, cyberattacks and violations of airspace can undermine our support and resolve, my answer is: you will fail,” he stressed.
According to Cavo Dragone, NATO intends to continue increasing its support for Kyiv.
“NATO’s support for Ukraine will continue to grow, and our unity is stronger than ever,” he said.
Cavo Dragone also held Russia fully responsible for what he described as “dangerous and unacceptable behavior” and said NATO Allies would continue strengthening all elements of the Alliance’s deterrence and defense.
