A day of mourning has been declared in Nova Vodolaha, Kharkiv region, following a Russian jet-powered drone strike on a central park where families with children were spending time.
The attack killed six people, including two children โ a one-year-old girl and a 10-year-old schoolgirl.
At the moment of the explosion, people were sitting at outdoor tables while children played nearby.
Among those killed were one-year-old Angelina and her mother, Inna, who worked as a primary school teacher. The baby was sleeping in her stroller when the blast wave hurled it onto the road. Her mother later died in hospital.
In total, four adults and two children lost their lives in the attack. Another 15 people were injured, including seven minors. Seven victims remain hospitalized, among them four children. Doctors describe the condition of two of the children as critical.
Following the tragedy, the central park has fallen silent. Local residents are bringing flowers and children’s toys to a tree damaged by the explosion, near the spot where the victims lost their lives.
