Russian forces carried out another large-scale attack on Odesa early in the morning, damaging a residential building near the Black Sea coast. At least two floors of the building were heavily damaged and gutted by fire.
Dozens of residents were injured, with one person in critical condition. A five-month-old baby was among those wounded. Emergency services remain at the scene, while the injured are receiving medical care.
At around 5 a.m., Russia attacked the city with Banderol jet-powered drones and Oniks cruise missiles. Once again, the strike hit a densely populated civilian area far from the front line.
The attack came as Russia increasingly employs a new tactic against Odesa. Instead of launching all its drones simultaneously, Russian forces are sending individual jet-powered drones toward the city at intervals. They can remain over the area for hours, forcing air defenses to stay on constant alert, triggering prolonged air raid warnings and intensifying psychological pressure on civilians.
The tactic is likely intended not only to expose weaknesses in Ukraine’s air defenses but also to exhaust mobile air defense units, disrupt daily life and terrorize residents for hours before the main strike. Odesa continues to endure near-constant Russian attacks involving drones and various types of missiles.
