Ukrainian volunteer and former adviser to the defense minister Serhii Sternenko has accused the Kremlin and US President Donald Trump’s administration of attempting to force Ukraine into capitulation. He believes that despite political pressure and challenges involving military technology, Ukrainians will be able to defend their interests.

Sternenko made the statement while commenting on restrictions affecting the Starlink and Starshield satellite communication systems used by the Ukrainian military.

“The Kremlin and the Trump administration are trying to force Ukraine into capitulation. But we will withstand this too,” the volunteer wrote.

According to Sternenko, recent reports from the front lines provide grounds for cautious optimism. Several Ukrainian military units have reported that satellite connectivity has been restored while traveling at speeds exceeding 160 km/h (100 mph).

However, he warned against drawing premature conclusions. More time is needed to assess the systems’ stability and determine whether their full capabilities have been restored.

Sternenko believes the positive developments were made possible by widespread public attention to the issue and political pressure within the United States.

Sternenko views the situation as extending far beyond technical restrictions on satellite communications. His remarks reflect concerns about Washington’s political approach to the Russia-Ukraine war and the possibility of increased pressure on Kyiv over the terms of ending the conflict.
