Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky could win a US presidential election thanks to support from Americans who approve of his stance in his confrontation with Donald Trump, according to Myroslava Gongadze, a Ukrainian journalist based in the United States.

Speaking on the Ukrainian political talk show Novyi Vidlik (New Countdown), Gongadze was asked how the American political establishment views Zelensky’s increasingly sharp criticism of Trump.

โ€œYesterday, someone asked me whether President Zelensky would win an election if he ran in the United States. And I can say that yes, he would win,โ€ Gongadze said.

According to the journalist, a significant portion of American society supports the Ukrainian president because they believe he is defending his country against what they see as unjustified accusations and demands from the current US president.

At the same time, Gongadze acknowledged that many Americans remain firmly supportive of Trump, including some who subscribe to various conspiracy theories.

โ€œI believe that thoughtful Americans are still on Ukraine’s side and, in this situation, on President Zelensky’s side,โ€ Gongadze emphasized.

Her assessment suggests that Zelensky’s increasingly confrontational rhetoric toward Trump may resonate with some Americans despite deep political divisions within the United States.

However, Gongadze’s claim that Zelensky could win a US presidential election is her personal assessment rather than a conclusion supported by polling data. Moreover, the US Constitution requires presidents to be natural-born US citizens, meaning Zelensky would not be eligible to run for the office.
