Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he held a 90-minute conversation with US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The discussion focused on preparations for trilateral talks involving representatives of Ukraine, the United States and Russia, which are expected to take place in less than a week.
According to Zelenskyy, diplomatic efforts must proceed at the highest possible pace to accelerate an end to the war. Ukraine has already submitted its proposals to the American side and is ready to take further steps.
Meanwhile, a meeting took place in Brussels involving representatives from Ukraine, the United States, the European Union, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, NATO, the World Bank and the international business community. Participants discussed Ukraine’s postwar reconstruction. Another meeting in Brussels is scheduled to focus on security guarantees for Ukraine.
Strengthening Ukraine’s air defenses was another key topic during the conversation with US representatives. Zelenskyy emphasized the urgent need for interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems to protect Ukrainian cities from Russian attacks.
The two sides also discussed continued bilateral cooperation, including the Drone Deals initiative.
“There is no alternative to peace, and postwar security guarantees must be truly ironclad,” Zelenskyy concluded.
