The Kremlin has welcomed US President Donald Trump’s call for Ukraine to stop attacking Russian facilities that produce diesel fuel. Vladimir Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, described such sites as “peaceful economic infrastructure.”
However, Peskov did not answer whether Russia would be prepared to halt its own strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure if Kyiv complied with Trump’s demand.
Earlier, the US president urged Volodymyr Zelensky to stop attacks on Russia’s fuel infrastructure, claiming they were hindering peace negotiations.
Peskov also said Russian forces would continue carrying out strikes across Ukraine. He made the statement when asked about a drone attack on a passenger train near the Ukrainian-Polish border, shortly after a diplomatic train carrying a European delegation had passed along the same route.
The Kremlin spokesman also claimed that Russian forces were improving their battlefield positions every day. According to him, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi are prepared to contribute to efforts to end the war.
