Medvedev threatens Armenia with ‘Ukrainian scenario’

Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev has claimed that Armenia’s rapprochement with the European Union could lead the country toward a “new Ukraine” scenario.

He made the remarks in an interview with Iran’s state broadcaster.

“The current Armenian leadership considered it appropriate to change the direction of the country’s development. I am certain that this will lead to nothing good. The worst thing that could happen to Armenia is its transformation into a new Ukraine,” Medvedev said.

He also claimed that certain countries are seeking to weaken relations between Moscow and Yerevan as Armenia shifts its foreign policy course.

The remarks come amid a prolonged deterioration in relations between Russia and Armenia and Yerevan’s gradual rapprochement with the West.

Medvedev needs to mind his own business. If Armenia wants to apply to the EU that’s her business, not Russias. Typical Medvedev playing Putin’s junkyard dog. But Armenia has to now take all precautions, she is not a member of NATO.
