Moscow is prepared to consider proposals from representatives of US President Donald Trump but has no intention of making political concessions, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.

According to Lavrov, Russia will review initiatives presented by US representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. While the Kremlin remains open to potential economic agreements with Washington, it has ruled out political compromises.

Lavrov also indicated that Moscow does not expect US sanctions to be eased anytime soon.

The Russian foreign minister cautioned against placing too much importance on Trump’s decision not to invoke the sanctions law, noting that Washington’s policy could change under a future president.

“Another president will come along โ€” who knows how he will behave,” Lavrov said.

He also expressed Russia’s willingness to restore relations with Western countries. However, he acknowledged that cooperation could never return to the format that existed before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

Lavrov’s remarks come as Washington and Moscow prepare for further contacts aimed at exploring a possible settlement to the war in Ukraine.
