Russian forces attacked the 7th Kilometer market near Odesa, injuring three people. The strike destroyed a restroom and several administrative buildings, while around 200 retail pavilions were damaged.
The 7th Kilometer is Ukraine’s largest wholesale and retail consumer goods market and is considered one of the largest market complexes in Europe. Founded in 1989, it occupies dozens of hectares and provides jobs for thousands of traders and employees.
Local residents heard explosions at around 3 a.m. According to Ukrainian monitoring channels, Russia reportedly used two P-800 Oniks missiles in the attack.
The Oniks is a supersonic cruise missile originally designed to destroy warships. However, Russian forces have repeatedly used it to strike ground targets and civilian infrastructure in Ukraine.
The attack on the Odesa region came amid another large-scale Russian barrage. Earlier that night, Russia launched missiles and drones at Kyiv, killing at least three people and injuring 19 others. Residential buildings and other civilian facilities were damaged across several districts of the Ukrainian capital.
