American actor and director Sean Penn, who has repeatedly supported Ukraine since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, met with President Volodymyr Zelensky during a concert reportedly dedicated to Ukraine’s Independence Day.
A video of the unusual exchange was shared by Serhiy Perman, head of the Ukraine Palace. The footage shows Penn making his way between the rows toward Zelensky, who then leans over to speak with the actor.
To avoid disturbing other audience members or interrupting the event, the two spoke quietly for several seconds while remaining between the seats.
The video quickly attracted attention on social media, with users jokingly comparing the scene to what might happen if someone tried to approach Russian President Vladimir Putin in such an informal way.
