Sybiha: Putin has no place at the table with Trump and Xi Jinping

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has opposed potential trilateral talks between the leaders of the United States, China, and Russia, warning that such a meeting would only encourage Vladimir Putin to continue his war against Ukraine.

The Ukrainian foreign minister made the statement in a post on X.

According to Sybiha, a meeting between the presidents of Ukraine, the United States, and Russia could bring an end to the war closer. By contrast, talks involving Donald Trump, Xi Jinping, and Putin would have the opposite effect.

โ€œInviting Putin to such a meeting would feed his appetite for self-aggrandizement and give him a stature he does not deserve. He is not a global leader; he is a war criminal. And Russia is not a global power; it is a global problem,โ€ the minister stressed.

Sybiha also highlighted Russiaโ€™s economic and military weakness. According to him, the Russian economy is at least 13 times smaller than that of the United States and eight times smaller than China’s.

The minister also noted that Russia has already lost 1.6 million soldiers killed and wounded in a war it cannot win but refuses to end.

โ€œBy any pragmatic or moral measure, Putin has no place at the table with presidents Trump and Xi,โ€ Sybiha stated.

The foreign minister argued that the only justification for Putin’s participation in such talks would be a genuine step toward peace, particularly accepting a ceasefire before the meeting.

Instead, Russia continues to intensify its attacks on Ukrainian civilians.

โ€œAs long as he continues this terror, there should be no place for him at any table,โ€ Sybiha concluded.
