Ukrainian long-range strikes have disabled more than 51% of Russia’s oil refining capacity, Ukrainian Defense Minister Yevhen Khmara said, citing assessments by intelligence, General Staff analysts and the Defense Ministry.
According to Khmara, the result is the product of systematic and carefully planned operations aimed at weakening Russia’s war economy.
Ukraine’s Defense Forces have recently struck the Moscow, Yaroslavl, Perm, Ilsky, Saratov and Syzran oil refineries. The Kirishi oil refinery and the refinery in Ust-Luga have also been targeted.
Khmara stressed that the impact of such operations is not always immediately visible, but their effects accumulate over time.
“Having 51% of oil refining capacity hit is a significant blow to the enemy’s economy, its ability to wage aggression and supply its troop formations,” the minister said.
The Defense Ministry also identified long-range strike drones as one of its key priorities. According to the ministry, Ukraine has tripled their production and procurement this year and plans to further expand its ability to strike targets deep inside Russia.
