Ukraine will not conduct airstrikes during diplomatic events involving representatives of the US president. Volodymyr Zelensky announced this ahead of Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner’s planned visit to Kyiv.
The president stressed that Ukraine is ready to observe the period of calm necessary for substantive negotiations. The schedule of meetings with the US team in Kyiv has already been approved.
Zelensky also provided an update on Russian attacks and Ukraine’s defense needs, thanking Ukrainian troops for effectively defending the country’s positions. According to him, Kyiv will act just as decisively on the diplomatic front as it does on the battlefield.
Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin has ordered Russian forces to refrain from striking Kyiv for three days. According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, the temporary pause will begin at midnight and remain in effect while the US representatives are in the Ukrainian capital.
