US eases sanctions on Russia following a phone call between President Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin. The US Treasury Department has issued a temporary license allowing Russian diesel fuel exports to global markets.

Trump described the talks with the Russian leader as โ€œextremely successfulโ€ and announced an agreement on large-scale diesel supplies.

According to Trump, Russia is expected to immediately deliver more than 300,000 metric tons of diesel, followed by another 500,000 tons in November and an additional one million tons later. Moscow could eventually export another three million tons, depending on the condition of its oil refineries.

The US president believes that increasing the supply of Russian diesel will help significantly reduce fuel prices in the United States and worldwide.

The decision effectively eases some of the energy restrictions imposed on Russia over its war against Ukraine. However, it represents a temporary authorization for diesel-related transactions rather than a complete lifting of sanctions.
