Ukraine’s military losses have recently amounted to around 27,000 killed and wounded service members per month, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said during a speech in the Sejm, citing information received from the Ukrainian side.
“Our partners in Ukraine told me that recently the monthly losses amounted to 27,000. And this is, of course, a record in the saddest sense of the word,” Tusk said.
The figure refers to the combined number of Ukrainian service members killed and wounded, not 27,000 deaths. Tusk said the figures had been provided to him by Ukrainian partners.
The Polish prime minister’s public statement represents a rare instance of a senior official from a NATO member state citing a specific current estimate of Ukrainian battlefield casualties.
