Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said he feels betrayed by Donald Trump’s agreements with Russian leader Vladimir Putin on diesel fuel supplies and an energy ceasefire. According to Zelensky, Ukraine is effectively losing the United States as a strong partner.
The Ukrainian president made the remarks in an interview with British journalist Piers Morgan.
During the conversation, Morgan directly asked Zelensky whether he believed Ukraine was losing America’s support.
“Unfortunately, that is the case. Yes, we are losing it, but not because of us,” the Ukrainian president replied.
Zelensky expressed disappointment with the decisions of the US administration, stressing that Washington should maintain a neutral position rather than side with Russia.
At the same time, the president emphasized that Ukraine would not sacrifice its sovereignty for political or economic agreements.
“We are not selling our country. For us, this is not business — this is our life,” Zelensky declared.
Another topic discussed during the interview was the role of American billionaire Elon Musk and the use of Starlink satellite communications.
When Morgan asked what he would say to Musk regarding Starlink, Zelensky gave a brief response:
“It is a big mistake.”
The journalist also asked whether Musk’s decisions could lead to people losing their lives.
“Of course, people will die,” the president replied.
Zelensky’s remarks highlighted his concerns not only about Washington’s changing position toward Ukraine but also about the potential consequences of decisions made by American technology companies for Ukrainians.
