U.S. presidential representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will visit Russia and Ukraine in the coming days. According to President Volodymyr Zelensky, the American negotiators are scheduled to meet with Ukrainian officials in Kyiv on Sunday.
Ukraine has already begun preparing for their arrival. Zelensky said he had held a meeting with the diplomatic team coordinating cooperation with the United States.
To ensure the American delegation can travel safely to Moscow, Ukraine will refrain from conducting strikes in Russian airspace during the visit. In return, Kyiv expects Moscow to halt its air attacks for the time needed to hold the talks and address logistical issues.
“We care about the American negotiators, not Russia,” the president stressed.
During the meeting in Kyiv, the Ukrainian side plans to discuss possible ways to end the war, as well as the proposals the American representatives will bring following their talks in Moscow.
“We will see what proposals Steve and Jared have and what they are told in Moscow,” Zelensky added.
