Ukrainian karate athlete and Olympic silver medalist Anzhelika Terliuga has shared footage showing the aftermath of Russia’s early-morning attack on Odesa, filmed from the window of her home.
The images show thick smoke rising above residential neighborhoods and a heavily damaged apartment building engulfed in flames.
“Everyone from Russia who follows me should know this: you live in a country that has been killing civilians and children for five years — people who are simply sleeping in their homes and want your country to leave us the hell alone. I wish you nothing good, and we will never forgive you for any of this,” Terliuga wrote on Instagram.
Russian forces attacked Odesa at around 5 a.m., reportedly using jet-powered Banderol drones and Oniks missiles. A residential building near the Black Sea Sandbox coast suffered extensive damage, with at least two floors destroyed and burned out.
At least six people were injured in the strike, including a five-month-old baby. All of the victims were taken to hospitals, with one person in critical condition. Emergency services continue to work at the the scene.
Terliuga was born in Odesa. She won a silver medal in karate at the Tokyo Olympics and is one of Ukraine’s most decorated athletes.
