Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha criticized Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s speech during a UN Security Council meeting and posed three questions to him about Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Sybiha described the Russian minister’s remarks as “boring fairy tales and manipulations,” drawing particular attention to Lavrov’s statement that Moscow has no intention of ending its so-called “special military operation.”
According to Ukraine’s foreign minister, Lavrov sought to justify the continuation of the war by blaming Ukraine, the United States, the West and NATO, while avoiding responsibility for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In response, Sybiha posed three questions to the Russian minister. He asked why Putin refuses to sit down for negotiations with Volodymyr Zelensky and pointed to the tens of thousands of Russian troops lost in August for the sake of capturing just a few square kilometers of territory.
His third question focused on Russia’s initial plans for the invasion and the situation four years into the war.
“You wanted to take Kyiv in three days. How did it happen that four years later Moscow is burning? Silence will be his only honest answer,” Sybiha said.
