President Volodymyr Zelensky held a phone call with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. The two discussed Russian strikes, Ukraine’s current defense needs and preparations for meetings with representatives of the US president.
According to Zelensky, Ukraine and NATO share the view that diplomatic progress is necessary. The president expressed hope that the talks scheduled for the coming days could help advance this process.
The two leaders also focused on the shortfall in funding for Ukraine’s defense. Zelensky thanked Ukraine’s partners for recognizing the country’s needs and said efforts to secure the necessary funds were continuing.
Rutte also briefed Zelensky on discussions aimed at securing contributions to the PURL initiative and providing Ukraine with missiles for its Patriot air defense systems.
