Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held talks with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, focusing on Ukraine’s security needs, preparations for winter and further international efforts aimed at ending the war.
Air defense was among the main issues discussed. Zelensky said Ukraine remains in close contact with its partners over additional systems needed to protect the country from Russian missile and drone strikes.
The Ukrainian president also warned that intelligence suggests Moscow is preparing another major attack.
“We have intelligence indicating that Russia is preparing a new massive attack against Ukraine,” Zelensky said.
The talks also covered support for Ukraine’s energy sector ahead of winter. Zelensky thanked the United Kingdom for its continued assistance and said Britain had provided a new contribution at a particularly important time.
Zelensky and Starmer also addressed sanctions against Moscow. According to the Ukrainian president, both sides agree that sanctions should remain in force and be strengthened for as long as Russia continues its war against Ukraine.
