President Volodymyr Zelensky said that 25 people were killed and another 100 injured in Russia’s massive attack on Ukraine.
The highest number of casualties was reported in Pryluky, where a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile directly hit a residential building. According to the president, rescue crews spent the entire day clearing the rubble.
“Unfortunately, 19 people were killed, including five young children,” Zelensky said, expressing his condolences to the victims’ families and loved ones.
The president said Russia carried out a combined attack using ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as attack drones.
“This is the kind of ‘gift’ Putin gave himself for his birthday. Killing children, killing people,” Zelensky said.
According to him, the attacks continued during the day, with Russian forces again using Shahed drones and aerial bombs.
Zelensky urged world leaders not to remain silent in response to Russian strikes and stressed that Moscow shows no intention of stopping its escalation.
The president also criticized the weakening of sanctions pressure on Russia and the potential lifting of restrictions on Russian oligarchs. He said such moves effectively send a signal that the war is being “normalized.”
“Putin can still sell oil and calculate the situation in dollars and euros in a way that remains profitable for him. It is profitable for him to wage war. War is his nature, his ideology,” Zelensky said.
He stressed that continued Russian aggression poses a threat not only to Ukraine, but to all of Europe and the Western world.
