Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said diplomatic efforts to end Russia’s war against Ukraine are gaining momentum again, particularly thanks to initiatives by US President Donald Trump.
He made the remarks during a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Istanbul.
“At the stage we have reached today, we reiterate once again that a just peace has no losers,” Erdogan stressed.
The Turkish leader said Ankara was ready to make every possible effort to achieve peace. According to Erdogan, previous talks between Ukraine and Russia hosted by Turkey demonstrated that diplomacy can deliver tangible results.

Erdogan also expressed concern over the spread of hostilities into the Black Sea and condemned attacks on civilian shipping.
“Such attacks are absolutely unacceptable to us, regardless of who carries them out or what justification is given,” the Turkish president said.
He urged all parties to act responsibly and said Ankara would continue talks aimed at restoring maritime security in the Black Sea.
