Russia has provided technological support to help North Korea establish production of Shahed-type attack drones, while Pyongyang is preparing additional troops to be sent to Russia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said.
According to him, more than 8,000 North Korean troops are currently in Russia.
“An additional contingent of another 10,000 troops is being prepared for deployment. They are being selected for training and subsequent transfer to Russia,” Zelensky said.
The president said Moscow is compensating Pyongyang for its military assistance, including by providing technology.
“In exchange for such assistance, production of Shahed-type attack drones has been established in North Korea with Russian technical support,” he said.
Zelensky described the cooperation as an example of how Russia’s war is creating security threats far beyond Ukraine.
He also said Ukrainian intelligence has information that Russia has already begun additional mobilization, is increasing the number of people recruited into its military and plans to expand the recruitment of foreign nationals.
Ukraine intends to share the relevant information with the governments of countries whose citizens Russia is attempting to recruit for its war.
